Credit to the late, great Jerry Glassel(Jackson, MI)for the vitamin E tip, it was a show saver he passed on to me when I injured my fingertips just before my senior college recital. I keep a few gel caps in my guitar case and just bite the gelatin to open them when I want to get to the oil. Much easier than using a bottle which can come open and make a mess.-Jason

Actually, I should clarify that. Finding faults is disappointing, but it also opens the door for improvement, and I'm happy about that.

Thanks Philip, that means an awful lot coming from you! I had other takes, later in the day, that were mostly better but with some horrible gaff. Learning a piece to record in one day is not really an ideal circumstance, but I'm really glad to be doing this project. On the one hand, I am finding all kinds of faults with my playing, but on the other hand, I'll be making a dozen or more recordings of myself that I can actually enjoy listening to. It's giving me a confidence boost.

Hey William, sounds really good! I like the phrasing and the loose feel, especially in the ending. And your hands look super light and relaxed. Congratulations!

I agree, I think music is made to be shared with others. Being able to perform more in the past year has given a new purpose to my guitar practice. Its really satisfying when someone comes up after a gig and says they appreciated the music. Even if I am just playing in a small cafe with all of 10 people and no one seems to be listening. Everyone has to start somewhere.

I agree. Trey Gunn (www.treygunn.com) posted a link to this on Facebook a while back. I think it illustrates your point well... You could notate these rhythms but it wouldn't even begin to convey the feel, and how the parts fit together. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcqlOq1cjjc
