I was first inspired to take up music by the sounds of a piano cascading and filtering down the stairwell in my elementary school. After some initial piano lessons, I soon switched to electric guitar (and tapping guitars), following a curvy path through rock, metal, jazz, free improv, and ambient music.
After fifteen years of electric guitar, I studied classical guitar under Ron Dunn in Cupertino, CA from 2002 until I left the Bay Area in 2009. In that time I played a handful of solo recitals, spent two years as teaching assistant for Ron’s guitar classes, performed in masterclasses held by Jérémy Jouve and William Kanengiser, had a moderately successful celtic folk group, and took some valuable lessons from Steve Lin, William Coulter, and Pierre Bensusan. I’m very grateful to all these wonderful teachers for the time they spent with me.
Shortly after I started studying classical guitar, I began developing a deep appreciation for traditional Irish music and took up the Irish flute, on which I perform in a duo called Castlerock with my wife Angeline LeLeux-Bajzek.
Since moving to Mount Vernon, WA, I have been studying with Kevin Gallagher. During this time I have re-examined and challenged every aspect of my creative process and have been rebuilding my guitar repertoire from the ground up. I am really excited by the world of possibilities open to me and the prospect of forging my own path ahead through it, staying true to my love of early music and classic guitar repertoire but also bringing together elements of my diverse background.
